An [Input Profile1. A profile that describes the color characteristics of a device such as a scanner that is used to create images. 2. A profile that identifies the output device being simulated for ICC Color Matching (that is, modifying the output image so that a print on one device appears as if it were printed on a different device).] corrects color shifts in the image file. You can set and modify your input profiles using the [Profiles] tab of the ICCICC (International Color Consortium) A group of hardware and software companies dedicated to the development of a specification that is operating system independent and provides the digital imaging, printing and related industries with a data format for defining the color and reproduction characteristics of devices and their related media Profile1. A method of defining and compensating for the color shifts in an image as it is shown on a monitor and printed on a media. 2. A specific Printer/Ink/Media combination in RIP-Queue. Setup dialog.

To Open the [Profiles] tab:

1. Highlight a printer and click “Configure Printer” icon on the toolbar. This opens “Configure Printer” dialog (Figure 1).

2. In the [Quick Sets] tab, click [Edit] button. This opens “Edit Quick SetA group of settings that is applied to images to create jobs in an efficient manner.” dialog (Figure 2).

3. Click the Change Profiles button. This opens the ICC ProfileAn international standard for describing color transformations. Also known as ICM (.icm). See also Color Profile and Profile Library. Setup dialog.
4. Click the Profiles tab (Figure 1).

You can set the profile for the following options by clicking the drop-down arrow and selecting the profile you want to use. Depending on your image type, some options may not be available.

• CMYKSystem for describing colors based on a combination of values for Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, and Black; the ink colors used in four-color process printing. In theory, 100% of Cyan, Magenta, and Yellow create Black. In practice, the addition of Black ink is necessary to print a true Black. See also RGB. Image
• CMYK VectorA term given to a graphic drawing, specified as a color, start and end point, and applied to line segments, type and tints.
• RGBSystem for describing colors based on a combination of values for Red, Green, and Blue—the additive primaries. RGB is the basic additive color model used for color video display. Mixing various percentages of red, green, and blue light can recreate most of the spectrum; combining 100% of all three creates white light. See CMYK, Additive Color. Image

Use Embedded rendering Intent When Available

This setting overrides any rendering intent selections and uses embedded rendering intents if the file contains them. Embedded rendering intents are only possible with PDF files. Since an embedded rendering intent is configured specifically for that image, using this option ensures the color will render as the creator intended.

Consistency Simulation/Proofing

This option allows you to create a proof simulation by browsing to an ICC profile, rather than specifying a specific printer and mode. This is useful when you want to proof to a specific output standard, or do not have access to the printer whose output you want to proof.

When a Consistency Simulation/Proofing profile is selected, any input profiles map to the proofing profile, and the proofing profile maps to the output profile during color processing.

Pure Hues

You can access the ICC Pure HuesColor created by applying 100% each of one or more inks in an image. (Cyan, Magenta, Yellow, plus Red, Green, Blue, White, Orange, Green, or Violet in those devices which support those colors. dialog (Figure 2) by clicking the ColorThe attribute of visual experience that can be described using the dimensions of Hue, Saturation, and Brightness. button (the button with nine colored squares) next to each profile option. Pure Hues applies the selected profile to all colors except those colors with a check next to them.

 

NOTE:[ICC Pure Hues] options only affect colors that are 100% of that specific color. For example, using Pure Hues with 100% yellow will preserve any pure yellow in your image. However, a color made up of yellow, cyan, and black will not be affected by the [Pure Hues] options.
